Meet Your Instructor

So why do I do this? I think that is best answered by first determining who I am.

 

Professionally, I am an experienced leader, with over 25 years experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) settings. Working predominantly in the oil & gas sector, contracted to large organizations. I have always been passionate in three things: The safety and well-being of my team, the environment, and teaching people, empowering them to act, and improve themselves and the community they live in through training and knowledge. For these reasons coupled with my professional experience I was chosen to lead much of the environmental efforts during the 2010 BP oil spill, and most recently held the title of Area Manager for the Gulf of Mexico/America region for one of the largest privately held environmental management companies in the USA.

And then I fell in love, for the second time.

My first love, is my wife, Nicole, we've been happily married for over 26 years. Not only is she the reason I moved to the USA (I'm from England originally), her faith and belief in me led her to being the co-owner of this adventure.

My second love is Hot Springs. After moving here several years ago from Louisiana for my work with an environmental company, I fell in love with Hot Springs, and have been eager to give something back. Thus Hot Springs Training & Consulting (HSTC) was born. Initially I just offered CPR classes, but have since expanded my library of knowledge by adding Active Shooter response classes, OSHA training, and a host of industry related training and online videos. Not only will this strengthen a companies team, but also, the training can be used by individuals who are also passionate about caring for, or being able to act in an emergency when people they love may be affected.

Initially, I was conducting training classes on weekends only, around my (hectic) work schedule. Until I realized that I was more passionate about teaching people, and seeing the look on their faces once they realized they were empowered to act, than I was about making deadlines or beating budgets. So I left my corporate job to pursue HSTC. That is how I know you are making the right choice -- I believe in it so wholeheartedly I am willing to stake my career on it. I am not simply teaching classes because its my job, or I am beholden to a contract. I am teaching them because unlike some others, I have a passion to teach, to instill confidence in people, and to give them the tools they need to succeed. I hope we can work together soon!
