Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) Operator

Veriforce’s Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift) Operator Training is a comprehensive two-hour safety course designed to provide forklift operators with the core knowledge needed to work safely, confidently, and in compliance with OSHA requirements. This course covers essential classroom topics including load handling, equipment inspection, stability principles, and hazard awareness as required by 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(3).

Upon successful completion of the course and competency exam, all students are issued a physical and digital Veriforce ID card with their name, company name, picture, barcode, and completed course. All students are automatically entered into the Veriforce training database where your company’s clients and auditors can view proof of completion.

Written evaluation: Students must evidence the knowledge they have learned by passing a final course test (competency exam)

  • Introduction & Requirements

    • Describe the purpose of forklifts and the importance of operating them safely.

    • Review the training requirements for operating a forklift.

  • Forklift Fundamentals

    • Identify the key differences between operating a forklift and operating a vehicle.

    • Classify forklifts based on their engine type, work environment, operator position, and equipment characteristics. 

  • Forklift Anatomy 

    • Describe the main parts of a forklift.

    • Identify the safety components of a forklift and their functions, including any permissible modifications. 

  • Safe Operation Procedures 

    • Describe the types of forklift inspections. 

    • Summarize the maintenance responsibilities required for forklifts. 

    • Describe how to safely travel and maneuver while operating a forklift. 

  • Personal Safety and Best Practices 

    •  Identify the ways you can protect yourself and others while operating a forklift.  

Certification Period

as found in 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(3), and a minimum of every 3 years

Minimum / Maximum Class Size

Minimum of two students required, maximum is dependent on training facility limitations.

Class Cost

$175 per student* In-Person Training

* Additional fees such as booking (If HSTC needs to book a space for the training event), or mileage may apply. This will be discussed during the booking process.
